Grit bins are mainly plastic boxes containing rock salt (which is why they are sometimes called salt bins). Commonly grit bins are placed close to areas liable to freeze or become slippery during the winter. You will have noticed grit bins along road sides and gradients. But there are becoming increasingly popular with schools, shopping centres, hospitals, public and private car parks too.
Traditionally grit bins have been made in bright yellow, but in recent years our customers have demanded other colours to blend in or match their corporate branding. Therefore, we offer seven differnt colours across different capacities. We also offer a choice of locks, hasps and staples and lettering (extra costs).
The smaller versions are also suitable for private dwellings and many homeowners are seeing the benefit of having a proper place to keep the salt for when the need it. This saves having to store unsightly bags of salt or part-used ones. These can attract moisture and become very difficult to use.
We supply either the bins on their own or as part of a starter package. Some packages include, in addition to the bin, salt/grit, gloves, hi-viz and a scoop.
As well as the plastic range of grit bins, we also offer some heavy duty versions made from glass fibre (GRP). These have a "stone-like" rough finish and are generally used in more remote/demanding environments.
These grit bins can also be used to store other items such as pet foods, garden toys
